The Cursed
Made deformed and hideous by the curse of their bloodline, nowhere is the monstrosity of vampirism more evident than on the faces of the Nosferatu; perhaps ironically, then, or perhaps due to this very flaw, Nosferatu are among the most gentle, level-headed, and humane. Driven underground and into the dark crevasses of society to avoid the gaze of mortals, Nosferatu live on the fringe, and are masters of surviving almost quite literally on the scraps of others. That other clans are hesitant to socialize with the Nosferatu should come as no surprise; in addition to their foul appearance and dwellings, Nosferatu are a visible reminder of the lengths to which Kindred may be required to go to preserve the Masquerade.
Espionage
On the other hand, the scraps on which Nosferatu live are primarily knowledge, and their reputation as spies and gossips is legendary. Kindred of all clans and classes regularly use the vast store of Nosferatu knowledge for their own ends, the price of which can often be lofty. What, in fact, cannot be learned, when one can speak to the flies on the wall, or sit in privy meetings unseen? It is perhaps due to their usefulness that Nosferatu have survived to become not only an integral part of Kindred society, but an inextinguishable one; Nosferatu, like cockroaches, survive.
Monstrous
For years, storytellers have gathered their fellow man around firelight to tell of savage monsters whose appearance were utterly inhuman and so were their behaviours. From the Minotaurs and Hydra of Homerian poetry to the deformities of Hugo's Hunchback or Leroux's Phantom, man has been writing of those monsters which frighten them most for millenia. These monsters of myth and legend become personified in the Nosferatu. Each and every Nosferatu is horribly and unmistakenably inhuman in their physical appearance. This may take any form or shape, but is always unmistakenably vile. While this may be hidden with the clever use of Obfuscate, it may never be fixed or cured in any fashion.
Politics
Being ostracized from both Kindred and mortal society alike has made the Nosferatu clannish beyond even the businesslike politeness of the Ventrue or the us-against-them braggadocio of the Brujah. Nosferatu keep no secrets from each other, sharing knowledge among the Warren, and even between cities, across continents, and over Sect lines. It is said "underground, there are no sects", and while a Sabbat Nosferatu may not be welcome above-ground in a Camarilla city, in the sewers and catacombs, he will at least be given safe passage and a hole to spend the day.
